Why do we have novelview wiki?

This wiki is a place where Marston Middle School students can talk about what they are reading.

 To access the wiki just click on the link to the right that says "Novelview Wiki"

What is a wiki?

The term Wiki comes from the Hawaiian word wiki wiki which means quick. A wiki is a kind of website that is written collaboratively and that multiple people can edit easily and quickly. In the novelview Wiki you can have your book reviews posted by Mrs. Nagy.

Who can submit reviews to the wiki?

Any student at Marston Middle School

How do I enroll?

Just register by sending an e-mail to me, Mrs. Nagy, at knagy@sandi.net with “novelview” in the subject line. Don’t forget to tell me your name, advisory teacher, and e-mail address if you have one. That's it!

You can also join by just asking me, Mrs. Nagy, when you are in the library.

Once you've joined "novelview," just e-mail me your reviews at knagy@sandi.net with the book's title in the subject line. Or you can drop handwritten reviews in person to Mrs. Nagy.

What makes a good book review?

For the "novelview" wiki a good book review is short - between 25 and 75 words. About half should be a summary of the book and the rest your reaction to the book. Tell me what you liked (or hated) and why. For consistency please rate the book according to the following scale:

5. *****Among the best I've ever read

4. ****Very, very good

3. ***A good read

2. **OK

1.  *Not worth the time

Can my reviews be posted on the wiki anonymously or without my name?

Yes. But please consider having your reviews posted with an abbreviated version of your name – like your first name and the initial of your last name or just your initials. If you choose this option please include your name and contact information so you can be entered into the Raffle (we have to be able to know who it is if you win a prize). Tell me to use an abbreviated version of your name on each & every review you submit, otherwise I will assume that I have your permission to use your full name.

Will my personal information be posted in the wiki?

Never. Your name will be credited to your review, unless you tell us that you want your review posted with an abbreviated version of your name (or as anonymous), but your email address and other contact information will not be posted on the wiki. I need your contact information so I can notify you and tell you when you’ve won something in the raffle.

Why wasn’t my review posted on the Novelview Wiki?

• It could be because there was a technological error and I didn’t get your review. Email the review to me again and let me know that it is the second time you've sent it. 
• Were there were bad words in your review? If a review is offensive I reserve the right to not post it.
